WordPress 2.9.2 – works fine!
Feb 19th, 2010 | By Ais | Category: Misc
WordPress 2.9.2 was released in February 2010, and the dashboard still looks almost identical to what’s featured in my book, Sites that Soar!
So, you can continue to use the current (third) edition of Sites that Soar. The dashboard differences are so minor, you may not even notice them.
Note: Sites that Soar! is available as an instant download (ebook) at SitesThatSoar.com, and as a published (printed) book at Amazon.com.
I’ve also slightly rewritten the book under a new title, Branford Magazine User’s Manual, because so many people aren’t sure what “Sites that Soar!” means. However… it’s basically the same book; I’m just trying to reach a broader audience.
I’m still using Branford Magazine 2.0, modified slightly. It still works fine at all of my websites. There’s no reason to wrestle with one of the newer, more confusing versions of Branford Magazine.
In fact, I tested Branford Magazine 4.2, just to see if it really was an improvement. In my opinion, it’s not. (See my article, Broken Branford Magazine theme?)
You can always download the older, more stable versions of Branford Magazine theme — including my modified version — at my websites. Just look for the “Free Downloads” tab on the homepage.

I recently Started blogging and when I install WordPress my hosting installed 2.9.1 instead of 2.9.2.
And I had to manually upgrade the wordpress to the latest version. though it was not tough though initially I thought of it as quite scary.
Some hosting services — such as HostGator.com — offer one-click updates to new versions of WordPress. However, a manual update isn’t too scary after you’ve done it a couple of times.
I’m glad to hear that yours went well!
