Amazon plugin

Apr 11th, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Selling - tips and tools

Do you review books or refer to them in your posts?  Are you an Amazon affiliate?
If so, I recommend the WordPress plugin, AmazonSimpleAdmin.
The plugin homepage says that it only works with PHP 5, but I’ve had success on my sites that — according to my hosting service — are running PHP 4.3.4 with Zend Optimizer.
Also, [...]

There are several sites that can keep you current on Internet marketing trends and tools.  One of them is Internet Marketing NewsWatch.  It’s an interesting mix of news for almost every level of marketer… which means that you may be interested in only some of their news reports.
That said, the site draws from a wealth [...]

E-Junkie review

Apr 6th, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Selling - tips and tools

Many people have asked me about E-Junkie, because they want to sell their own digital products.
I love E-Junkie. Really. I pay them a small fee based on how much storage space I’m using on their server. As of April 2008, I get 50MB for $5 per month.
That’s all they charge me. [...]

WordPress 2.5 - Popularity widget controls

Apr 5th, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: WordPress 2.5 fixes

If you’re working with WordPress 2.5 and using Firefox as your browser (I am), you may have wondered where the Popularity Contest widget’s Edit button went.
The only way I can see it is if I open my WordPress admin panel in Internet Explorer.
It’s there, but this is another reason why I recommend not upgrading to [...]

WordPress trick - Adding empty lines

Apr 3rd, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Design secrets, WordPress 2.5 fixes

Since I’m copying existing pages (in HTML) to WordPress, I’m running into a few layout issues.
One of the biggest challenges has been adding blank lines. Sometimes, I need them to place text next to photos ‘just so’.
However, simply leaving an extra blank line in the text… it didn’t work… not in Visual mode and [...]

Seven Secrets Seminar

Apr 2nd, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Products

The Seven Secrets Seminar changed everything about how I do business.  It more than tripled my online income in three weeks, using only free resources.
Sure, I’d tried WordPress in the past. It was okay for blogging, but I generally wasn’t impressed until I saw the Mimbo and Branford Magazine themes. They look so [...]

When you don’t want to write

Apr 1st, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Writing tips

When you don’t have time to write your own website articles, there are online sources of free articles.
I don’t mean press releases.  I mean actual articles.
One of them is Ezine Articles, at http://www.EzineArticles.com It’s one of the largest online. Their quality is generally better than many other “free articles” sites.  (Also, I write for them.)
To [...]

WordPress 2.5?

Mar 30th, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Products, WordPress 2.5 fixes

After a day of experimenting, this is what I’ve learned: WordPress 2.5 works fine with everything I recommend in my book… except one plugin.
On some (but not all) servers, the Extended WP Contact Form plugin doesn’t work. For me, that’s an important issue.
Are WordPress 2.5’s improvements worthwhile? Not yet.
The new WordPress (2.5) is [...]

Image spacing in Firefox

Mar 30th, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Design secrets

In Firefox, there’s been a problem with horizontal and vertical spacing around post images. In IE, illustrations in posts generally look okay. In Firefox, the text appears to butt up against the image.
Here’s the solution that I’m using with WordPress 2.3, thanks to the WordPress Support forum:
I’ve added something like this to my [...]

WP 2.5 - plugin fix, upload error fix

Mar 30th, 2008 | By webmaster | Category: Featured articles, WordPress 2.5 fixes

I had two big problems when I upgraded to WordPress 2.5. One plugin had a fatal error, and I couldn’t upload new images in the “add media” popup window.
I was ready to revert to 2.3 until I found the solutions. Here they are:
The image upload solution was in the WordPress Support forum.
In a [...]
