About
“Sites that Soar!” was the title of an ebook (and later a printed book) about installing and customizing WordPress magazine-style themes.
That book is not for sale right now, due to WordPress 3.0 changes.
This site is an archives. I’m keeping it here for support related to the Sites that Soar! book, http://www.SitesThatSoar.com/wordpress/
The main SitesThatSoar.com site (not this one) is moving towards topics related to website design & maintenance… for non-technical people (like me).
About this website
This website uses the free Branford Magazine theme with WordPress, although it’s somewhat broken by WordPress 3.0+. If you want to continue using the early, reliable versions of Branford Magazine — the same ones I offer free at this website — stay with WordPress 2.9.2. (See my article, WordPress 3.0 Update – How to Keep Using Branford)
This website is still maintained by me, Aisling D’Art, the author of Sites that Soar!
Disclosure: Many links at this website are affiliate links. However, I never recommend a product or service that I don’t own and use myself. If I wouldn’t recommend a service or product anyway… well, there’s no way I’d jeopardize my credibility and integrity by recommending it to make money.
(If you know me in real life, you know how strict I am about that.)
About the book
(The following was written for the earlier version of this website.)
The Sites that Soar book was originally written by artist Aisling D’Art to help her friends (also artists) create their own professional-looking website. Most of them are new to the Internet. For that reason, the instructions were as “non-techie” as possible, with lots of screenshots.
Three years later, its third edition, Sites that Soar! was still reaching a niche audience of artists, but the book became popular with general readers, novice webmasters, and online marketers as well.
